As the final verses of Auld Lang Syne come to a close, many take a moment to cast a look back before marching into the New Year full of intent. With lots of promises and resolutions to choose from, the dawn of a new year leaves many fueled by hope and filled with excitement. The same can be true for organizations as well.
2016 was the 40th anniversary of the Laurier MBA. As we celebrated this milestone, we also announced a new brand entering our next chapter as the Lazaridis MBA at Wilfrid Laurier University. With a program built on the innovative Integrated Core structure, it’s no wonder that we continue to find ways to reinvent our program delivery to suit the needs of prospective students. And in 2017 we’re doing it again, this time alongside the Balsillie School of International Affairs.
“The proposed MBA/MIPP double degree combines the strengths of the Lazaridis Masters in Business Administration and the Master of International Public Policy,” says Dr. Hugh Munro, director of the Lazaridis MBA. “This new program option facilitates the development of skills critical to taking on the pressing issues facing our world’s societies.”
Through this two year combined program, graduates will be prepared to address the global effects of trade liberalization, globalization, environmental change and geopolitical instability from a business leadership perspective. “Our goal is to equip future business leaders, policy makers and government officials with the knowledge, skills and sensibilities needed to exact change on a multi-sector stage,” says Munro.
With the intent of welcoming our first cohort of students in July 2017, the MBA/MIPP program is setting the path for a new way of approaching business and policy leadership through practical application of sound theoretical practices. “Students are going to explore the pressing global issues facing the world’s governments, NGO and private sector organizations,” Munro continues. “And they’ll do this from a multi-disciplinary and cross-sector perspective.”
