Here we provide you with a glimpse of Lazaridis MBA’s most important milestones and accomplishments over its 37 years.

1976- Launched the MBA Waterloo part-time evenings program
Dr. Basl Healey, Director of Laurier’s Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program, announces the first intake of students to the MBA Waterloo part-time evenings program. 1986- Laurier is the first Canadian university to offer a one-year accelerated MBA program full- time
MBA programs were traditionally part-time programs, and any full-time offerings were traditionally 2 years in length (some still are).

1995- The first MBA program to develop and implement the integrated core curriculum in Canadian business schools
Our teaching style reflects how the real world functions, which gives our students an immediate and real life understanding of how business works, and the relationships between the fundamental areas. The course work and projects allow the students to put this real-world training into immediate practice. The integrated core is our strong suit and it is what sets our Alumni apart in the work place time and time again!

1997- Created the part-time MBA Toronto program, with the best part-time schedule in the world
The Laurier MBA Toronto Part-time alternate weekends program is a perfect schedule for working professionals with families and lifestyles they desire to maintain.
Our schedule is Friday 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm, Saturday 8:15 am to 5:15 pm, Sunday free, every second weekend. Students are attending classes just twice a month, seven weekends a term for 3.3 years to complete the full graduate degree. There are no summer classes during the months of July and August.

2000- Began the first English CMA MBA program in Canada
We have a 100% pass rate of our students taking the CMA board reports and case exams, and our students perform in the top ten percentile of all students taking the CMA designation exams across Canada. Our specific curriculum is created by Laurier and CMA, and the program includes all materials, training, and board report and exam preparation.

2004- Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International has accredited Laurier’s Undergrad and Graduate Business Programs
AACSB represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools around the world. This means the MBA degree at Laurier is recognized around the world, and is one of the few MBA programs in Canada to receive such a distinction. Globally, less than 5 percent of the world’s business schools have achieved this elite distinction. To maintain accreditation, a business program must undergo a thorough internal review every five years.

2005- Developed specialized MBA degrees with concentrations
Students can choose from one of eleven concentrations to complete a specialization within their general MBA degree. View a listing of the offered specializations here.

2005- Started the CFA MBA option
We are one of only two MBA programs in Canada offering the MBA with CFA track option. Laurier students continue to surpass the global CFA exam taker success rate year after year. Our current statistics are 100% pass rate on Level I and 86% pass rate on Level II.

2006- Started the Co-op MBA program option
Laurier was the first Business school in the country to offer co-op education at the Business undergraduate degree level in our Honors Bachelor of Business Administration degree. We have been offering co-op since 1977. Laurier launched Co-op MBA program in 2006, and since that time we have successfully had a 100% employment of our MBA Co-op students within their two paid work terms.

2007- Innovation & Entrepreneurship MBA introduced as first of its kind in Canada
MBA students with an entrepreneurial spirit are given the opportunity to prepare for the launch of their own company, or learn how to work with entrepreneurs.
